Training 11-11-12

Galt, 30 miles. QuestXS (open cockpit). 24.3mph average. I guess my legs are starting to get used to this position. My legs feel like they are propelling a laidback bike. The primary stress is around the knee. On the bright side, if I ever choose to race an unfaired bike again I will be ready.

I'm enjoying following your progress in training and...no worries...the speed will definitely come in the Quest and will 'blow your mind' at times.
When I reentered training 3 years ago with my Quest after a serious bout with anemia, I remember distinctly averaging 14 mph for 20 miles on a flat course. I was very discouraged but kept at it. Fast forward to late summer of 2011, and I was toying with cat 2-3 pacelines at 30-32 mph at will. At age 61. With no racecap or cockpit cover.
You're a smart racer and a strong racer. It's going o be fun to follow your progress. God's speed.

Hi John,

nice to hear from you. I'm honored that you're following my lowly blog. You've been an inspiration to me since my recumbent beginnings back in the 1997 RCN days. Yeah, my initial rides provided some "uh-oh" moments. I'm so glad that I'm not the only one. Thanks.
