training 9-1-13
Folsom Canal, 22.5 miles. QuestXS (open hood, foothole covers). N-35.8, S-32.0. In the last week of Battle Mountain training I'm ending with a one-lap round-trip training record of 33.9mph. That's .6mph faster than my previous best with the bonus that I'm running an open hood versus closed, Conti Top Tour 2000 front tires versus Stelvio/Durano and a Marathon Racer in back versus a Durano. I've done a total of 7500 miles since last year's Battle Mountain and today I surpassed 5000 miles in my velomobile since last November. Two more easy rides then total rest. Good job, me! Oh, and I found out the real reason behind my high-gear shifting woes of last ride. I removed the derailleur cover and found a crushed plastic bottle in there.
