I didn't plan on doing max. efforts today but I felt like it so I did. I did 1215 and 1242 watts with a 40x16 gear. I followed those with four sub-max efforts in 40x14 (1089, 1102, 1133, 1107) with short rest. The max. efforts were done in a bigger gear this week so that is doubly good. I was probably not in my maximum torque range so I've likely expanded my powerband. I've increased my max. wattage by 15.7% in three weeks.
Last week's squats made me very sore. I needed every bit of an entire week to recover completely. Squats hurt so good, they are a fantastic exercise. I think I just might do them every other week instead of every third. Even though I do them in an upright position trying to place maximum pressure on the quads, it's my upper hamstrings and inner thighs that get hit the hardest. That is nothing new but I want to have those sexy, sweeping quadriceps so I may have to resort to front squats or even sissy squats. By the look of the outer head of my quadriceps I'm in need of some fascial planing. Instead of having a smooth, rounded surface they have multifaceted, flat surfaces. I've been stretching them and doing some mild planing but it looks like I'm going to have to take it to the next level and start drawing blood.
I've been thinking about the mechanics of sprinting on a DF and the traditional position sure seems like a crappy way to mount and engine. One has to rely on the abs, lats and biceps to press/pull the hips towards the cranks and the mounts (the hands) are over two feet in front of the cranks. That doesn't seem very efficient at all. What if one added another mount in the form of a belt worn above the hips that attached it to the top tube? The engine couldn't be pushed up into space then. I already have a name picked out, Mo-der(riere) Mounts.
I've been eating good and growing like a weed. I'm well over 200lbs and my strength is going up quickly. Romanian deadlifts were light-years easier this time. My main problem is that my ass and thighs are approaching the capacity of my big, homeboy shorts. I'm going to have to invest in some stretchy pants. I'm starting to feel like Kim Kardashian.
